Description
Westminster Hall, London, 1900. Interior of Westminster Hall, Houses of Parliament. Originally a Norman building, constructed between 1097-1099, Westminster Hall was rebuilt in the 1390s. The building has hosted a range of events over the centuries, including the trial of King Charles I and the coronation banquet of King George IV. It is also used for lyings-in-state of members of the Royal Family and, on rare occasions, great public figures, prior to state funerals. It is the oldest extant building on the Palace of Westminster site. (Photo by The Print Collector/Print Collector/Getty Images)
