Contrary to its description, the photograph of "Gore Vidal at work on a balcony in Positano," was in fact taken in Ravello, at Vidal's cliffside villa, known as La Rondinaia (The Swallow's Nest). Positano and Ravello are two distinct municipalities along the Amalfi Coast, at about 14 miles distance from each other.
