(Original Caption) 10/15/46-St. Louis, MO: Redbird outfielder Enos (Country) Slaughter slides across home plate with the winning run of the World Series during the eighth inning of the seventh game at Sportman's Park. Marty Marion, the next Cardinal batter, watches while still holding his bats. Umpire Al Barlick signals the safe run. On his knees, waiting the throw-in from Johnny Pesky at second is catcher Roy Partee. The Cards annexed the Final Game, 4-3 to win the Series.
