The unnamed hero of Pearl Harbor, a messman with the United States Fleet, has been identified as Dorie Miller of Waco, Texas, seen here wearing the cross he received at a ceremony. When Japanese planes bombed his ship in Pearl Harbor, Miller manned a machine gun, although he had received no training in the use of the weapon.
