Bonaparte at the Council of the Five Hundred - St. Cloud, November 10, 1799 (19th Brumaire)', (1896). Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) led a group of grenadiers who drove the Council from its chambers in St Cloud, Paris, and installed him as leader of France as its First Consul.
