(Original Caption) Opio, France: World War II spy Dusko Popov (Undated file photo), the model for Ian Fleming's fictional hero James Bond, died at his home in southern France last week, local authorities confirmed 8/24. In memoirs published by Popov in postwar years, the ex-spy said the FBI ignored his warning that the Japanese would attack Peak Harbor despite his having forwarded it to Washington six months before the Dec. 7, 1941 raid. Popov was 70-years-old.
