Artist's Description

(Original Caption) French peasants strive for rehabilitation. The industrious ness of the peasants of France is being watched by the entire world. France, torn by war, with farms destroyed, homes ruined and village blown to pieces, was the greatest sufferer from the great war. But with such women as the one shown here, rehabilitation and industry will so on thrive as formerly. This scene is a common one in France, where the women have gone to work in the fields, ploughing, cultivating, harvesting by hand, to restore life and growth in the ground on which Frenchmen fought and died. Photo shows French woman who is ploughing, cultivating and harvesting her plot of ground on the Chemin des Dames, by hand.
