Not unlike the artist's conception of the original Betsy Ross, Mary Hoffman sews the stars on a custom made flag. The larger and more expensive flags are all hand-sewn. Hoffman has been with the Annin and Company flag factory for 17 years and is often called the "Mother of the Flags."
