Artist's Description

A Victorian illustration of an old-fashioned shepherd boy holding the hand of his girlfriend as they cross a bridge in the English countryside. The illustration is set within a frame of spring primroses and grasses.
From “Nurse’s Memories” written by Charlotte Yonge and illustrated by Frederick Marriott and Florence Maplestone. Published in 1888 by E. & J.B. Young & Co, New York and printed in London by Eyre & Spottiswoode.
