Description
(Original Caption) Pictured is a photo taken by British consul General of Ispaham, Mr. Ernest Bustow, showing a group of hardy desert travellers having lunch, about 150 miles from the nearest habitation or water, in the Arabian desert, en route on the 600 mile trip from Jerusalem to Bagdad. Note the Cadillac car with the desert mail packed on it. In the photo left to right and Standing are G. C. Coleman, L. B. Clarke, the chauffeur and Ian Moir; sitting left to right Mrs. Joyce, Col. Joyce, Mrs. Brash, Miss Navarro, and Dorothy J. Coleman. Mrs. Brash was one of the first victims of the Bedouins of Syria who attacked the automobile convoys on the northern route Beirut to Bagdad. Mrs. Brash was shot in both legs and spent a long time in a Beirut hospital before she was completely cured.
