The Stone Quarries, Craigleith, near Edinburgh: From Which the New Town was Built', 1829. Located two miles north-west of Edinburgh city centre, Craigleith Quarry was active for over 300 years, from 1615-1942. After Thomas Hosmer Shepherd (1792-1864). From Athens, displayed in a series of views; or, Edinburgh in the nineteenth century; exhibiting the whole of the new buildings, modern improvements, antiquities, & picturesque scenery of the Scottish metropolis & its environs, by John Britton.
