The Porte Saint-Denis, Paris, France, 1820. The Porte Saint-Denis is a triumphal arch erected in 1672 to commemorate Louis XIV's victories on the Rhine and in Franche-Comte during the Franco-Dutch War. The arch was designed by architect and military engineer Francois Blondel and sculptor Michel Anguier and bears the inscription Ludovico Magna (Louis the Great).
