Artist's Description

(Original Caption) This is the "Emmy" statuette, to be awarded to winner's in 34 national categories by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at its annual 1954 Awards Dinner Monday, March 7, at Frank Sennes' Moulin Rouge in Hollywood. Designed by artist Louis McManus, the statuette's name was suggested by Harry R. Lubcke, president of the ATAS in 1949. In addition to the national awards for 1954, seven Hollywood Achievement awards also will be announced at the dinner, the entire event to be televised for an hour and a half over NBC's television network.
