Artist's Description

The attempt to assassinate King Louis Philippe of France, Paris, 1835. On 28th July 1835 a Corsican ex-soldier named Giuseppe Marco Fieschi detonated a bomb in an attempt to kill Louis-Philippe while he was on the way to a military review. The bomb killed twelve people, including Edouard Mortier, Marshal of France, but the king was unharmed.
