Artist's Description

(Original Caption) Pro golf companion of Joe Louis, born 1914 at Tulsa, Oklahoma, former redcap at Los Angeles Union Station, reported to have played golf for only five years as an amateur, turned pro June 1947, held lead for a time in Los Angeles 1948 Open with sizzling three-under-par 68, now suing P.G.A. for not being allowed to play in P.G. A. sponsored Richmond (California) Open Tournament January 15, 1948.
