Artist's Description

8th December 1958: Russian-born composer, conductor, pianist and writer Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky (1882 - 1971) conducting. Works include the opera-oratorio Oedipus Rex (1927) the melodrama Pers+phone (1934), and the ballet Apollo Musag-tes (1928, later retitled Apollo). During his lifetime, Stravinsky used many musical styles, a Russian-nationalist style, primitivism, jazz, Neo-Classicism, bitonality (simultaneous use of two keys), atonality, and serialism.
