Sir Thomas Brisbane, British soldier, colonial governor and astronomer, (1886). Brisbane (1773-1860) served as Governor of New South Wales from 1821-1825. The settlement that later grew into the capital of Queensland, which Brisbane visited in 1826, is named after him.
