(Original Caption) 7/4/1944-Saipan, Mariana Is.: You never can tell when your comic strip education will come in handy, and this crewman aboard a US Navy Aircraft Carrier was mighty thankful that he had studied Dagwood's tactics in making with the nonstrous sandwiches. He is stocking up on the morning of June 14, 1944, when his carrier participated in action off the coast of Saipan during the Allied invasion of the Jap-Held island.
