(Original Caption) 3/8/1973:Wounded Knee, SD: Rev. Ralph Abernathy (l) confers with leaders of the American Indian Movement, (AIM) Russell Means (center) and Dennis Banks, at Wounded Knee, SD, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation 3/7. Abernathy told the Indians they had achieved a "great victory" in bringing the plight of the Indians to the attention of the American people. "I will do everything in my power to cause the White House to intercede and casue the Secretary of the Interior to reopen negotiations."
