4/28/1935-Washington, D.C.: His words entering the microphone are carrying President Roosevelt's "fireside chat" into the millions of homes of his constituents. He promised to expedite the new $400,000,000 emergency work relief program to create jobs for the 3,500,000 employables who are now idle. Enactment of social security legislation was linked as a "necessity" along with the new program.
