Post mill, 1620. Sectional view of a windmill showing grain being fed into millstones in the centre. On the left of the mill, a sack of grain is being hoisted to the top of the building. In this design of mill the whole structure was rotated on a post, R, to bring the sails into the wind. From the German edition of Le diverse et artifiiciose machine ...
