(Original Caption) Winner of 18th annual Memorial day Auto Race at Indianapolis, Indiana...Pictured above is Billy Arnold of Chicago, who won the Memorial Day 500 mile auto race with an average speed of 100.448 miles per hour. Driving a Hartz Miller around the brick oval before 175,000 spectators, Arnold managed to keep the lead throughout the race. He threaded around wreck after wreck, say one of his fellow racers killed and a half dozen injured.
