It wasmade aboard a U.S. Aircraft Carrier in the Pacifit, at the moment a Navy Hellcat started to roll down the deck for take off. Note the signal officer in left, background, poised to drop his checkered flag. Officers and men in the various turrets in the background watch as the plane's motor roars up to take off speed. Here is the striking power of the U.S. Fleet, now seeking to tangle with the hiding Japs following the conquest of the Gilbert Islands.
