Description
(Original Caption) Baltimore, Md.: Flying Saucer. The U.S. and Canada once tried to build a flying saucer but gave up when the thing would not go more than four feet in the air, according to a report appearing in the Baltimore News-American today. This picture of the disc-shaped Avro car, developed by Avro Aircraft Ltd. of Canada under sponsorship of U. S. Army and Air Force was first released by the Pentagon in 1960. The saucer looked just like the objects sighted in the Midwest and New England recently. It had separate cockpits for the pilot and copilot and was operated by three gas turbine engines located in the center of the circular vehicle to give it a doughnut look.
