(Original Caption) 3/27/1990-Houston, TX- Soviet oil and gas officials in Houston offered the first ever joint venture development with U.S. oil companies for Soviet oilfields. A partnership between the USSR's Ministry of Oil and Gas and the Houston-based Professional Geophysics, Inc. offered opportunities for drilling and production in the Western Siberian Basin. Georgy Gogonenkov, director of the Soviet ministry, and Tom Russell, chairman of PGI Houston, are pictured here looking over geological charts.
