(Original Caption) New York, NY- The city of New York is deciding to replace the 42nd Street subway shuttle running between the Grand Central Station and Broadway. As far back as 1923, the city fathers were thinking of the same idea. This Moving Platform model was built for $125,000 by the Continuous Transit Company, and consists of a continuous parallel platform with three speeds: two, four and six miles per hour. This is as far as they got with the original idea. Now in August 1952 the old idea is being revived.
