Artist's Description

On November 25, 1970, Mishima Yukio and his followers arrive at the Ichigaya Headquarters of the Japanese Eastern Army to read his "Manifesto", trying to rouse the 2000 soldiers to take action and save Japan: "Japan's present politics are full of corruption", Mishima said, closing his speech with the war cry of old Japanese armed forces, "Tenno Banzai" (Long Live His Majesty the Emperor). Mishima then commits "seppuku" (ritual disembowelment) in the office of General Kanetoshi Mashita.
