(Original Caption) As U.S.S. California Goes Down. This photo, just released by the Navy Department in Washington, shows the battleship, U.S.S. California, (center), as she went down following an attack on her by Jap Torpedo and Dive Bombers Dec. 7th at Pearl Harbor. Note men swarming over the side to leave the stricken warship. At extreme right, (background), can be seen part of the hull of the capsized battleship, U.S.S. Oklahoma. Smoke from fires aboard the California and other warships, covers the scene.
