(Original Caption) 1/24/1966-Birmingham, AL- Federal voting examiners went to work here and in nearby Bessemer and Fairfield signing up Blacks to vote. The registrars were ordered here last week by the U.S. Justice Department after three weeks of Black demonstrations. One of those who registered was John Hatton (L), who is being signed up here by Federal examiner H.E. Spencer.
