(Original Caption) Taken in the extensive radium laboratories of the University of Paris, where Mme. Curie carries on her research work, this exclusive photo shows the method in which a patient suffering from cancer is treated by a combination of the radium and x-rays. Every part of the patient's body other than the part to be treated is covered with lead-rubber, which is impervious to the radium rays. Note the operator of the apparatus looking through a lead-glass window at the rear of the room.
