(Original Caption) Gettysburg, Pa.: Mamie Eisenhower, 82, widow of President Dwight Eisenhower, apparently suffered a stroke at her farm here and was taken to Walter Reed Hospital for treatment. Her family physician, Dr. W. North Sterrett, and her companion Rose Stoner, R.N., were with her. She was taken ill shortly after 10 A.M. but was conscious and aware of her surroundings. Mamie wears a pale blue dress with a plum-colored hat and pearls in this 1977 photo.
