(Original Caption) 5/27/1929-Havana, Cuba-: CUBA ACCLAIMS ITS NEW PRESIDENT. Havana, Cuba, donned its holiday raiment for the inauguration of Gen. Gerardo Machado, who, through a coalition of the three major political parties, was acclaimed president in an uncontested election. Envoys and ambassadors from thirty-seven nations attended the inauguration ceremonies at the new $13,000,000 Cuban capitol. Photo shows President-elect Machado, in auto, acknowledging plaudits of gay Havana, while on way to new Cuban capitol for inauguration.
