Louis Armstrong and Roy Eldridge warm up with their trumpets before the Esquire All-American Jazz Concert. Armstrong (1900-1971) was considered by many to be the greatest of jazz trumpeters, and turned the trumpet from an ensemble into a solo instrument. His singing voice is still one of the most recognizable in American history. Roy "Little Jazz" Eldridge (1911-1989) was a great trumpet player of the 1930's.
