Leicester Hemingway points out the location of the “Republic of New Atlantis.” Leicester, younger brother of novelist Ernest Hemingway, built the island himself on a rock shelf in 50 feet of water off the island of Jamaica in the Caribbean. He has received hundreds of requests from prospective settlers on the wet republic by Leicester, as honorary president, says that work will continue on raising the island out of the ocean.
