Kylemore Abbey is the oldest Benedictine Abbey in Ireland. The nuns that live in the Abbey have a long history stretching back 350 years. The Abbey is nowadays used as an international boarding school and a day school for local girls. A section of the Abbey is still strictly for the nuns use and is not open to the public.
