Description
(Original Caption) A huge dial-studded computer that mathematically models a complex electric power system is given its first test run by K.R Geiser, General Electric Company computer engineering supervisor. The computer's 1,290 dials are set to simulate physical facilities and load conditions in a 46,000 square-mile service area. Now in service at The Nerve Center of the vast American Gas and Electric System in Columbus, Ohio, the device is expected to save that company up to possibly $100,000 annually by instant computation of the transmitting electric power along nearly 8,400 miles of high voltage transmission lines.
