Artist's Description
'Justice at Fault', 1887. Mr Punch tells the policeman holding the train driver captive that he has one of those responsible for the latest railway crash but, pointing towards the stout railway director, he ought to take both parties into custody. Punch is accusing the railway directors of putting profit before safety. It should not be within their power to choose whether or not all the latest safety devices are installed. However, money was the priority but at great human cost. From Punch, or the London Charivari, October 8, 1887. (Photo by The Cartoon Collector/Print Collector/Getty Images)
