Description
Jupiter, firedog, late 16th century, (1881). Etching of a bronze firedog in the form of the Roman god Jupiter, one of a pair made circa 1570-1600 by Giuseppe de Levis in Verona, Italy. Firedogs were used to support logs burning in an open fire.
