Artist's Description

One of the passengers on the ill-fated airliner that crashed near Uniontown, Pennsylvania, killing 11 was Charles Challinor of Cleveland, Ohio. First reports of the disaster listed him as dead.
Later, when the dead had been identified, it was discovered that Challinor was one of the three people aboard to escape with their lives. Here is his joyful family reading the telegram that raised them for the depths of despair. Left to right are Barbara, 14, Mrs. Challinor, and Jack,
