Description
Jane Lewson, Remarkable for her age and pecularities', 1821. Portrait of elderly wealthy eccentric Jane Lewson (née Vaughan, died 1816) who claimed to have been born in 1700. She supposedly smeared herself with pig's fat instead of washing, and still wore the fashions of the reign of George I. From "Wonderful Characters: Comprising Memoirs and Anecdotes of the Most Remarkable Persons of Every Age and Nation", Vol. II, by Henry Wilson. [J. Robins and Co. Albion Press, London, 1821].
