circa 1925: Jane Addams (1860 - 1935), American social reformer, feminist and co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931. She founded the social settlement 'Hull House' in Chicago in 1899 and became the first woman president of the National Conference of Social Work in 1910.
