1/24/1950-Brooklyn,NY: Jackie Robinson, the National League's MVP in 1949, is shown signing a Brooklyn Dodger contract today as President Branch Rickey indicated the dotted line with his cigar. The star second baseman, first of his race to win the coveted MVP award said his contract was highly satisfactory. The figure is said to be $35,000, nearly double what Jackie got last year. This makes him the highest paid Dodger since Nahatma took over the Brooklyn club.(full caption in negative sleeve)
