Description
A group of Chicago White Sox players, including the popular Shoeless Joe Jackson, were accused of accepting bribes and throwing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. While the eight accused players, dubbed the Black Sox, were eventually cleared by a grand jury, baseball commissioner Kenesaw Landis banned the players from professional baseball for life.
