Artist's Description

Close up view of a whale shark feeding at Cenderawasih Bay. There is a resident population of maybe 30 individuals who live in the Cenderawasih Bay area of West Papua and try to feed off what the fishermen catch over night in their nets. These whales suck on the nets and ingest small fish and other nutrients. The whales themselves are often caught in the nets over night and are usually released the following morning.
