(Original Caption) Madame Alexandra David-Neel, well-known explorer, author and professor of a Belgian university, is recognition for her works on Oriental philosophy, holds the distinction of being the first white woman to enter Lhassa, the "forbidden city" of Tibet (1924). She has been awarded a gold medal by the Geographical Society of Paris and created a knight of the Legion of Honor by the French Government. A book on her visit to Lhassa will be published shortly. Photo shows Madame Alexandra David-Neel dressed as a nun of a Tibetan cloister.
