(Original Caption) 5/27/1823- The famous race between Mr. Van Ranst's Horse "Eclipse" and Mr. R. Johnson's horse "Henry". Long Island Union Course, May 27, 1823. According to this print, Henry won two of the three four mile heats, but all the records show that in fact American Eclipse was the winner.
