Artist's Description

E. Fenton', (1683-1730), 1830. Elijah Fenton (1683-1730) English poet, biographer and translator educated at Jesus College, Cambridge. Secretary to the Charles Boyle, in Flanders, and Master of Sevenoaks Grammar School. He worked with Alexander Pope, on a translation of the Odyssey, and wrote about the Life of John Milton.
