During a particularly dry summer, many of the Salt Flats in Silicon Valley, California were either drained or dried up, leaving a dry-lake bed underneath. These mud cracks created an out-of-this-world look and I knew I would come back to photograph them. On this particular summer evening the cloud exploded with color. I decided I wanted to setup near some still water that I had found, knowing that I could include both cracks and reflection in the water.
