Doorway to the Temple Church. London.', late 18th century. The Temple Church in London was built as the English headquarters of the Knights Templar in the late 12th century. It was consecrated in 1185. Inscribed 'To Thomas Phillip, Esq. A.R.A. Who has Manifested much Taste and Truth in his pictures and much kindness to his obliged friend J.Britton'.
