Artist's Description

Donato Bramante, Italian Renaissance architect, (1836). Bramante (1444-1514) began his architectural career in Milan, before moving to Rome in 1499. He came to the attention of Pope Julius II, who employed him to redesign St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Palace. (Photo by The Print Collector/Print Collector/Getty Images)
